ProQuest Maintenance Window - December 17

The next ProQuest platform enhancement release is scheduled for December 17th. ProQuest will be taking a maintenance window to install these enhancements. The 12-hour maintenance window will begin Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 22:00 EST (03:00 UTC/GMT) and run until Sunday, December 17 at 10:00 EST (15:00 UTC/GMT). See below for a more complete list of times and time zones.

Enhancements include:

  • ProQuest Resource Linking - Serious researchers are now just ONE CLICK away from trusted full-text content through ProQuest and beyond. It's a major advancement in our mission to strengthen your role as research advocate in supporting and enabling the quest for serious knowledge. ProQuest Resource Linking allows patrons to link directly to the full text of the article, automatically- any article in your holdings, whether it's from ProQuest or another information provider. These links are validated against your holdings information and only presented if full text is available. Read more on the ProQuest Resource Linking Page.
  • Migration of Current Research@ to the ProQuest Platform - With the December 17, 2006 ProQuest platform installation, we will migrate all Current Research @ accounts from the original UMI® platform to the ProQuest platform. As part of this move, all Current Research @ databases will be renamed to Dissertations & Theses @. Please see the PQDD migration page for more information about the December 17, 2006 Current Research @ migration including: an explanation of renaming conventions, FAQs, and information about how Current Research @ users should prepare for the December 17, 2006 installation.
  • PQDT Enhancement - We will provide enhanced OpenURL support allowing both ProQuest subscribers and non-ProQuest subscribers to link directly to the individual citation/abstract of a particular dissertation or thesis title.
    • OpenURLs that link to a specific graduate work will take the end user directly to the citation record (instead of to a search results page, as it currently works).
    • Subscribers to PQDT will get access to the citation record and, if they have the appropriate subscription, also to the full text in PDF format.
    • Non-subscribers will get access to the specific citation record, and will have an option to purchase the graduate work in whatever formats are available.
    • Read all the details about other aspects of our PQDD/T migration in the PQDD migration page PQDD migration information center webpage.

The following products will be unavailable during this window:

  • ProQuest®, including ProQuest interface products, ProQuest Historical Newspapers (traditional and graphical K12 interface), American Periodicals Series
  • Third-party databases such as PsycINFO® Database with Full Text
  • ProQuest Archiver™
  • ProQuest Dissertations and Theses
