Deep Linking Coming to LexisNexis

LexisNexis has made software changes to allow linking to the article level and creation of durable links to articles.  They have been working with ExLibris (which provides SFX) so that eventually SFX will be able to link deeper into LexisNexis than it does currently.

The URL API Specification and some FAQs are in the LexisNexis Information Central website at http://www.lexisnexis.com/academicmigration.

IEEE Xplore

The planned deployment of IEEE Xplore release 2.1.4 this past Saturday, 16 September has been delayed. IEEE Xplore 2.1 is currently online and fully functional for our users. IEEE's goal is to provide the reliable online service our users expect. We are therefore conducting additional pre-release testing of 2.14 in preparation for the relaunch. When the testing phase is successfully completed, we will inform customers of the new release timeline.

STAT-USA/Internet Current Industrial Reports categorized and archived

Current Industrial Reports (CIRs) provide timely, accurate data on domestic production and shipments of selected products. These popular reports have always been one of the larger file areas in the State of the Nation (SOTN) database of STAT-USA/Internet. However, the overwhelming quantity of the files made them cumbersome to navigate quickly. STAT-USA has taken steps in an effort to make it easier for users to not only find the most current CIRs, but the historical ones as well!

IEEE Xplore Upgrade 9/16

Dear IEEE Subscriber:

On Saturday 16 September, IEEE will release a major system upgrade to the IEEE Xplore digital library.

As a result of this upgrade, users may experience up to 12 hours of downtime beginning at approximately 9:00 AM EDT (-5 UTC).

IEEE Xplore 2.1.4 will be OpenURL compatible, which provides a standardized syntax for organizing bibliographic metadata and identifiers in a URL and transferring data between information services.  Links are enabled between unsubscribed content in IEEE Xplore to a    library resolver, leading users to appropriate resources within their institution. With this enhancement, librarians can work with commercially available link resolver software to fully enable their publication catalog. OpenURL will be provided in these areas:

        * Search results
        * References
        * Brief abstracts
        * IEEE Book abstracts

Other features of the IEEE Xplore 2.1.4 upgrade include:

        * RefWorks and Bibtex format downloadable citations from IEEE AbstractPlus records, search results, and tables of contents

        * Monthly lists of each periodical's most-downloaded articles

        * Watermarked PDF documents, illustrating the value of your library subscription

This release continues our successful launch of IEEE Xplore 2.0, and incorporates many of the requests we have heard from our customers.

An additional update is planned for release before the end of 2006.
